What you need to know:
- As announced in Financial Products News 2010-034, effective Monday, October 4, 2010, NASDAQ OMX® will introduce the following new Originator ID value in the message header of NASDAQ OMX Global Index Data ServiceSM (GIDSSM):
- New Originator ID value of “O” Special Processing
- In preparation for the new Originator ID value of “O” Special Processing in the message header of GIDS, NASDAQ OMX will begin to support evening test data with the new Originator ID beginning Wednesday, September 15, 2010.
What modification is being made to the Originator ID field within the message header?
As announced in Financial Products News 2010-034, effective Monday, October 4, 2010, NASDAQ OMX will introduce a new Originator ID value of “O” Special Processing in the message header of GIDS. This new value will be used to identify indexes that appear within the GIDS feed and may also be contained within a Global Access client data feed. It is intended to assist data recipients in identifying index data that may be duplicative and allow for the data recipients to filter out this data from the GIDS feed.
What changes do I need to make for the new Originator ID value?
Firms processing the GIDS data feed product should review their internal processes to add the new Originator ID value of “O” to properly identify indexes that are subject to special processing and determine any impact this may have on downstream data services.
Please Note: While this is being introduced initially for support of Russell Indexes on GIDS, it is NASDAQ OMX’s intention to use this for other special processing situations in the future with limited notice. As such, data recipients should be prepared to process this new value.
What are the testing opportunities for the new Originator ID value?
In preparation for the new Originator ID value of “O,” NASDAQ will begin to support evening test data. For its evening testing opportunities, NASDAQ will create sample messages to provide the data community an opportunity to test the new data and test internal processing of the new Originator ID value within the message header of GIDS.
The following testing opportunities will be available:
| Type of Testing | Scheduled Dates | Description |
|---|---|---|
| Evening Test Transmissions | Wednesday, September 15, 2010 through Friday, October 1, 2010 |
A test file will be recorded to be replayed in the evenings from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Eastern Time (ET), to all data feed subscribers. No registration is required to participate in evening testing. During this time, data will be broadcast on the production IP multicast groups. |
| Saturday User Acceptance Test (UAT) | Saturday, September 25, 2010 and Saturday, October 2, 2010 |
A test file will be recorded to be replayed on Saturdays; data will be broadcast on the production IP multicast groups. |
